William L. (Bill) Allen, President

District 5

 

Bill has been the District 5 HILCO representative since June 2004. He has served in various capacities in and around his community, having been a school board trustee for the Whitney I.S.D. along with being a past member of the Advisory Committee for the White Bluff Property Owners Association and currently being a member of the Protective Services Committee and a volunteer of the WB volunteer fire department. He also serves on the Board of San Miguel Electric Cooperative, a power supplier for HILCO .

He is a graduate from The University of Texas in Austin, having received a Bachelor of Business Administration. He is licensed as a Certified Flight Instructor and has both owned and operated small business and ranching concerns.

In his position as a HILCO director, he has continued his education, having completed the course requirements for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's Credentialed Director Certificate (CCD). The courses included:

·        Directors Duties and Liabilities

·        Understanding the Electric Business

·        Board Roles and Relationships

·        Strategic Planning

·        Understanding Financial Planning

In addition to the above, leadership courses completed included:

·        The Role of the Board Chair in Conducting Effective Meetings
